top 5

Top 5s are a thing I do now. Not because I read High Fidelity or anything. Well, maybe a little because I read High Fidelity. ANYWHO, this very first list is entitled 5 Beautiful Gentlemen Who I Cyberstalk and Create Lists About Whenever I Have 30 Minutes, or so, Lying Around.

Sometimes I think/hope Abby and Ilana have stalked me and made a 3minute short of my life. In any case, you should really get these girls into yours. Hmmm... and by 'yours' I meant 'your life' but I suppose the word following yours could be anything ;) Anyway, if you hate fun then you probably won't like Broad City is all.

Dear internet,
you are great. Keep on keeping on- especially you, Wikipedia. Regardless of the fact that people may slightly despise you and I've seen that 30 Rock episode where Jenna nearly ate a cat due to a misleading Wiki-page, I think you are really just the ultimate source for information. And don't worry, the people that don't trust you, don't trust mankind and they probably are not too fun to be around.

I LOVE YOUR BLOOD/BLOG

HOWDY-DOODY DEARS, how are you? Summer holidays are in full swing and they've been pretty great. Anyway, the wonderful Ella of reve de la mode has given me an "i love your blog" prize... awww shucks:)

Why did you create the blog?
I just heard this is how kids do it nowadays hardy-harr. No, actually, I think it was a mixture of reasons involving boredom, ego, love of writing and an unhealthy obsession with documentation.

What kinds of blogs do you follow?
...the best blogs, not that I'm an authority on it or anything. More specifically, blogs that have a genuine voice which leave the reader feeling a bit more awesome and/or wiser for having visited. Bloggers who can laugh at themselves and other people (in honest good taste!) are also instantly stalked.

Favourite makeup brand?
I don't really wear makeup on a day-to-day basis because I am a lazy and unemployed student but of the brands I've experimented with, Lancôme stands out.

Favourite clothing brand?
Romance Was Born, Comme de Garcons, Galliano, Rodarte, McQueen, Band of Outsiders and Marc Jacobs are amongst the list of labels that I would kill an earthworm for.

Your indispensable makeup product?
Lucas Paw Paw Ointment is amazing; it cures chapped lips, insect bites, burns, cuts and thrush. Sunscreen is also amazing- never ever go without it folks.

Your favourite colour?
Orange.

Your favourite film?
Hmmm.... that's a tricky question which I cannot give you a wholehearted answer for, sorry. Today, however, my fleeting love is for Dirty Dancing- as corny and sad as that sounds.

What country would you like to visit and why?
I would love to visit India for the colourful culture, and to go on one of those spiritual journeys in which the person comes out completely enlightened and able to float in mid-air. once I've saved up more pennies, I'm going to India and finding a cow to become my home-girl.

Make the last question and answer to yourself: favourite monster?
Three way tie between the kraken, squonk and mermaid.

bonjour

The bilingual boy that can roll his R's is always immediately cuter, smarter and runs faster than his twin that cannot. And it is for this reason that my brain ocassionally face palms itself for quitting Italian. Why taking language classes used to be the bain of my existence, I forget, but being fluent in French and asking my French lover for an aubergine based dish would be really nice. Since this will not be achievable for a couple of lifetimes, I'll just continue seducing people with my well rehearsed accents and weeding out the weak from potential friendlings by singing this song on public transport in all its semi-foreign glory!

...also, because it deserves a hooray or something, I'm quite seriously on the brink of entering my final year of schooling; I've completed all my exams (maths x2, english studies and psychology) and induction lessons for year 12 begin next week. Oh, and the new Harry Potter is out. So, if I may say, in the only succinct way my emotions could possibly be articulated, ZOMG!

To anyone that still reads Happy Un-birthdays, I'm am really sorry for being a horrendous blogger it's just school and weekends and school and blahblahblah. Speaking of school, tomorrow I have an exam for mathematics and psychology and hopefully I don't die or anything. Anywho. HOW HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN? Healthy and beautiful as always, I presume?

Oh, wow. Lovely!

I've been tagged by the loverly Erimentha of The Little Blog of Happiness to do the infamous Cassie's Therapy tag YAY! You have to fill out 12 likes, 1 love and 8 hates (like Cassie); everything in bold must also be included. You must also choose 3 other bloggity-bloggers to do the tag and link back to Eri.

My three internet loves which I've chosen to participate in this tage are Ella, Tegan and Harlow because they all just have really fun, first-rate blogs.

“It was the weird area where you’re definitely not cool but you’re in this other category — you go to punk shows but you study and do your homework; you don’t go all the way, you don’t smash your mom’s favorite things. It’s the weird dichotomy of wearing khakis at a punk show and drawing anarchy symbols on your desk.” -Kip Berman on being a 17-year-old

It was my birthday on Sunday and it was really really really great. I woke up to a freakin smörgåsbord and some truly gorgeous cards. The family and I then spent the rest of the day doing a 10km hike, then they let me cruise/speed them around, what I like to call, wine country. I hope you guys had the best of ultimate binary dates yourself:)

Doggy Kibble

Has anyone ever realised how incredibly intimidiating the game 'marco polo' is? I've come to the conclusion this game was originally a form of cult/fraternity initiation or cheap entertainment in the Ganges. Think about it. You're blindfolded and then made to wade around like a desperate, unsuccessful mugger or something whilst people throw eggs and shout obscenities like "hey Bessie". When you finally manage to capture someone you have to touch their face and dear god you hope it's not the lake monster or Jonathan Rhys Meyers (like in your nightmares) although you know this is moderately unlikely; you guess these names anyway and are wrong and the tormenting cycle continues.

...other than this, there isn't much else to complain about. I hope your days have been as sunny and delicious and um, inspiring, as spring holidays, frozen sara-lees, bike rides, swishy-haired people, this song and this song and disposable cameras. Oakey-doakey and happy Tuesday my loves.

p.s. has everyone bitter moved to tumblr and if not, drop me a line please:)

Carmen & Sabine

Carmen and Sabine

I drew these two in Year 9, have I ever introduced you to them? On your left is Carmen and on the right is Sabine. They are twin mimes conjoined at the hands who were found at 3 months old in a picnic basket aside the Île de Ré Bridge. At twelve they escaped their foster home and ran away to join the circus. They do not speak, their bird Beau does so for them. Carmen likes woollen hosiery and balloons. Sabine likes 'The Students' and boiled eggs.

...hope you guys all got through your Monday alright. To the few people that still read Happy Un-Birthdays, thank you. I really do appreciate it, I just hardly say it enough.

VainVeinVain

If the 30 minutes I've seen of Gossip Girl, The OC and The Hills have taught me anything (other than the fact that attractive rich kids really do have bigger problems than us) it's that the way you dress is generally a precursor as to how your day will pan out. I mean, don't you guys remember that time that LC wore cargo pants to an interview and got hot coffee spilt on her face? ...yeah me neither but anyway. MORAL IS: if you're dressed as though you're to shovel poo chances are, you probably are and if that's how you like it, carry on; if you looked like a great, big ball of gorgeously dressed self worth, on the other hand, the possibilities are slightly more open ended.

With this in mind, I've come to the conclusion that everyone - President Obama and that guy eating tinfoil in the corner- should dress for how they'd like their day to be because it will make the world a better place and I mean this is all seriousness. Whilst this won't exactly cure AIDS or end wars, it's a simple start to a global strive for happiness. And once everyone looks like they're about to party it won't be too long before someone starts a party and then who wants to be the badly dressed wanker that drops an A-bomb eh?!! ...sorry, I forgot to ask. How was your day today loverlies?

I can't help but feel shirked whenever the "pretty girl" with, I don't know, a hyphenated name like Mary-Jane or Deborah-Lee comes along in horror movies. The fact that she is so incredibly perfect just makes her all the more creepy. You just know that she's either the one that will be victim of some demonic possession or that she'll get mutilated in the most brutal way. Y'know? Anywho, Argentinian artist, Carmen Burguess, kinda captures what I'm talking about. Oh, and not only does she rock the visually unhinged she also dabbles in the vocally cosmic (click here). Do you guys have any horror film recommendations? And how was your day? And how is your life right now...

Jacques-Yves Cousteau was amongst the first to mingle with the beautiful, beautiful aliens amongst us and that makes he totally awesome. Monsieur Cousteau also got practically canonised by Wes Anderson and Bill Murray and that makes him doubly devine. And sometimes I wish I was a marine biologist or underwater Mario, particularly during maths nowadays...

“It is shocking and profoundly regrettable, but, apparently, sales of oranges are falling steadily because people can no longer be bothered to peel them. As soon as I read this, I began buying oranges more frequently and eating them with greater pleasure. Now I peel an orange very slowly, deliberately, voluptuously, above all defiantly, as a riposte to an age that demands war without casualties, public services without taxes, rights without obligations, celebrity without achievement, sex without relationship, running shoes without running, coursework without work and sweet grapes without seeds."

i want you to want me

Like just then I opened this mysterious black box and to my surprise, the highest indicator of young love, circa nineteen-eighty-something, came pouring out/ I opened this (still) mysterious black box and to my surprise found a bunch of mixtapes my father made my mother during the the time they were all boyfriend-girfriend. Once you get past the initial tedium, masses are really quite beautiful; the stained glass windows, people joining hands in song and just the fact that everybody there is filled with nothing but wishes, love and gratitude should be enough to give you faith in anything. I mean, I'm not the most religious of people and I pity those that comply with every single thing the bible shoves at them BUT I pity those more who don't have any- belief that is. It's saddening too that having faith in God or anything is enough to make you uncool. So with people being so bloody nihilistic and taking everything for face value it's no wonder our society is seeing more suicides than ever. And, I just don't know about people who bluntly say "religion is a load of crap" because they are the same people who don't believe in what they can't touch.. my Saturday has been pretty weird. Also, yellow and glitter is the new everything over here.

if anything is yours and you want it taken down please drop me a line here:
